Master in Interior Design

The Master in Interior Design takes place in a studio of Architecture and Interior Design in Florence, one among the ten best Design institutions in Tuscany.
During the Master’s program, students will be able to combine study with practical experience, as they will be directly involved in the working environment, working closely with the professionals.
Students will learn to develop their creativity by collaborating on the projects currently being handled by the architecture firm.
Central will be the topic of “Beauty”, proportion and symmetry applied to new design trends.
Together we will learn to use space, light and materials, essential to the designers to express a personal aesthetic idea in their work.
In addition to the lessons in the classroom, students will be proposed with workshops and study trips in Italian and European cities and also visits to exhibitions and events concerning the world of Design.

DUAL MASTER study plan

The Dual Master follows the same study plan of the Master, adding the following disciplines:

Furniture Design Lab
Construction Management
Lighting Design
Visits Exhibition/Showroom

The courses have two sessions starting each year in January and September.
SCHEDULE: Lessons are held from Tuesday to Friday for a total of 16 hours per week.

The course focuses on the theme of “Beauty” in design. After an introduction to site planning, the course covers topics such as homes, green exhibition spaces, showrooms and sustainable offices. Through the analysis of spaces, shapes and light, students will learn to express their creativity in relation to the needs of the customer.

the purpose of the course is to understand the basic elements of great international Interior Design masters’ projects. By sketching the formal elements of works analyzed, it will be possible to synthesize and express the essence of the ideas that underlie them.

The course focuses on the international coding of symbols and on the drawing methods used worldwide, to give the student the tools to work in international companies.

Aims to deepen the knowledge of new technologies in order to be able to apply them to a project, controlling their cost and environmental impact. Among these, the program will specifically address the study of green design and sustainable technologies.

During this course, the focus will be on the study of the history of the architecture and design works by great masters of the past, analyzing their creations in order to grasp their spirit and to understand what the author’s intentions were.

The course introduces the student to the study of color and the way in which it is perceived by man through various combinations. Students will analyze the topic of color within public and private spaces and its use in relation to shapes, geometries and compositions.

The course teaches the workings of tools that allow work online with the client and develop the whole project through Digital Web Marketing.

The correct presentation of one’s work to the customer is essential. The correct rendering of the lights, the colors and the materials used for your project, is important to convey the atmosphere of the environments conceived and represent your point of view and your overall vision. Learning to outline your own identity through your portfolio is therefore the key to success in the last important stage of the project presentation.

The course teaches how to use 3D rendering programs, such as V-Ray, to reproduce in the third dimention, objects drawn in 2D. We’ll move from the analysis of indoor spaces to the practice aimed at developing one’s creative abilities.

This course focuses on the organization and management of practices for the provision of professional design services. It focuses on the architect’s responsibilities, from the pre-contractual phase to the cost estimate, up to the construction specifications. We will cover all aspects such as the application of information technology in the preparation of project specifications.

It is very important to know how to understand the clients’ needs and to guide them from the first to the last meeting, showing them, through sketches and images, your own ideas about the project. Equally important is to demonstrate that you are able to keep under control the bill of quantities in all phases of the work and the course also provides students with this tool.

Additional disciplines for the DUAL MASTER

The course teaches how to design furniture such as tables, bookcases, chairs, etc., but also elements of urban furniture such as benches, fountains, bike racks and much more.

The students will be taught how to manage the construction site and the relationships with suppliers, craftsmen and the staff involved in the implementation of the project.

The correct use of lighting is essential to perceive the environment in the way most consistent to the project. The lessons will cover themes such as the study of light parameters and their use in indoor or outdoor environments.

We will discover what the fundamental design elements are, such as materials, lights, shapes and colors, within showrooms, bars, restaurants and quality exhibition spaces; and we will understand what are the reasons for their success.

The course will teach how to use photography for interior design and architecture. The themes will be the camera and its components and photographic languages specific for architectural environments.
