Rembrandt seen by Morandi

REMBRANDT SEEN BY MORANDI
Exhibition of Etchings

Gabinetto Disegni e Stampe degli Uffizi - Loggiato Uffizi -  Florence
from 18 December 2012 thru 18 March 2013

This comparison between two of the greatest engravers of the history, is done through 40 works (20 by Rembrandt and 20 by Morandi) on display in the exhibition hall of the Cabinet.

Giorgio Morandi (Bologna, 1890 – 1964) was an Italian painter and engraver who specialized in still life. His paintings are noted for their tonal subtlety in painting apparently simple subjects, mainly vases, bottles, bowls, flowers and landscapes. He is considered one of the greatest engravers of the XX century.

Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn (1606 – 1669) was a Dutch painter and etcher. He is generally considered one of the greatest painters and printmakers in European art history and the most important in Dutch history.
